5 Tips to Help you Prep for Q2

Hey girl, happy Sunday! So as you know, Quarter 2 is here and after reviewing Quarter 1, I thought of 5 quick tips that I’d like to share with you as we enter into the next 3 months of 2023. Before you read this post, prepare to ask yourself some questions. So go grab your glass of lemonade, a notepad and pen.

Firstly, let’s Review and Adjust

At the beginning of the year, I sat and documented my plans for Q1 and as ambitious as I was, I didn’t get them all accomplished. So it left me thinking a bit and I decided to take 3 things into consideration.

  1. The unaccomplished - ask yourself what are the items or tasks that are still outstanding.

  2. The reason - determine why I was unable to complete each task or execute the ideas - what are the reasons for them being incomplete?

  3. The solution - Identify ways to fix this; do I need more time, effort or resources?

Secondly, to Continue or to Discontinue?

After reviewing, I got deeper in my thinking and asked myself, are any of my regular habits affecting my ability to accomplish the tasks I listed for Q1? When you ask yourself this question and the answer is yes, proceed to ask yourself:

  1. What are these habits?

  2. Why did they hinder my progress?

  3. What will it take for me to stop these habits from being practised?

Thirdly, Prepare for Change

There’s no doubt that things can change in a split second. But are you actually ready for what may happen? Whenever I ask myself this question, the answer is always more than likely no. But what I promised myself and you should too, is to at least:

  1. Keep an open mind

  2. Be adaptable when things don’t pan out how we envisioned

  3. Understand that anything is possible

  4. Remind ourselves that change doesn’t necessarily mean a turn for the worse

Fourthly, Conduct a Spring Clean

Get to tidying up girl! Remember, this isn’t a deep clean but rather you taking the time to check and identify what small things you need/want to change in your life and/or business. For me, this was something as simple as changing the highlight covers on SMWEC’s Instagram page. Since my spring clean included a few other things, I made sure to note:

  1. What carries a higher priority?

  2. Would the change affect what’s currently happening? If yes, for how long?

Lastly, Prep for Summer!

Summer is one of the biggest seasons for us femtrepreneurs and if you’re in Barbados, it’s the Crop Over season. While you may not partake in the festivities, it’s always good to ask yourself if the festival will have an impact on your business. If the answer is yes, then it’s time for some planning. Here’s a mini checklist for you.

  1. What stock items do I need?

  2. When should I ideally have these items?

  3. What is my summer budget?

  4. What activities or events am I participating in to sell my products and services?

  5. What promotional strategies will I complete?

    1. What platforms and channels will I use for marketing?

    2. Is there another set of persons in the market that I can sell my products to in this season?

I hope these tips will help you get ready for Q2. Remember, as you continue to tackle your goals make sure they’re SMART - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound. Don’t forget to like, share and comment on this post. Have a great week girls!

Xoxo,

Christal-Ann
